WHY WE STARTED
Why we started Roots Initiative.
When you invest in Patagonia, you become part of something larger than a transaction. You become a stakeholder in one of the last intact wilderness regions on Earth — a place defined by glacial lakes, ancient forests, and an ecosystem that took thousands of years to build.
We work with that land every day. We know what it looks like when a hillside burns. We know the communities that live alongside those forests. And we believe that the act of investing here carries a responsibility — to give back, not just to take.
That is why Roots Initiative exists. Not as a marketing program. As a commitment.
HOW IT WORKS
How it works
With every transaction Patagonia Estate closes, a portion goes to Roots Initiative. We work with local nurseries in San Martín de los Andes, Villa La Angostura, and Bariloche to source native species suited to each zone.
We partner with primary schools in the affected areas — so that the children of these communities are the ones who plant, who learn, and who watch the forest grow.
Every buyer receives a certificate with the trees planted in their name, the zone reforested, and a photograph of the school children who planted them. Because an investment that leaves something behind is worth more than one that doesn't.
